In the context of Veteran's Day this week, we wanted to use our Friday blog to thank all US Armed Forces Service men and women, both veteran and active for their service and sacrifice. We are grateful for all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces, helping to guarantee our freedoms, including our religious freedoms.
One of the ways the CGGC supports our veterans is through our sponsorship and support of our military chaplains. The CGGC sponsors chaplains from multiple branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, including US Army Chaplains, US Army National Guard Chaplains, US Civil Air Patrol Chaplain Corps, and the US Air Force Reserves Chaplain Corps.

The role of a chaplain in the United States Armed Forces is varied and multi-dimensional, at times requiring pastoral skills, counseling skills, strong leadership, a deep knowledge of cultural and religious differences, and the ability to advocate for those at the bottom of the military hierarchy to those at the top.
Always at the forefront of a chaplain's work is service in the name of Jesus, whether they are leading a Bible study, or ensuring servicemen have their religious needs met. Our chaplains recently shared some specific prayer requests that the men and women of the US Armed Forces have right now. In particular, please be in prayer for service members and their families over the holidays. "It's a big financial and emotional strain," one of our chaplains said. "This is not the most family friendly line of work. I have soliders in several countries that won't be home for the holidays." Besides that, please be in prayer for our chaplains specifically, that the Lord might use them to reach the lost and uphold the weary. Additionally, you can reach out directly to our chaplains via their contact information below to send them words of encouragement and appreciation.

We’re proud of our chaplains and the work they do every day to support US Armed Forces service men and women. And you can read more about the work they do in a number of ways.
First, we’ve interviewed our chaplains and you can read them. Like for instance, an interview with Army Chaplain (CPT) Byron Denman, here: where he talks about being raised in the army, the differences and similarities between military and civilian ministry, and more: Byron Denman Interview
Or with the story of retired Chaplain Steve Show, who worked in the Pentagon for over a decade. Chaplain Show’s story is one you’ll definitely not want to miss. Steve Show Story
Courtesy of the CGGC Historical Society, read the full history of nearly every CGGC Chaplain in the Archives Museum’s News Magazine all about honoring CGGC military chaplains, written and edited by Pastor Don Dennison. Pastor Don details the service record and story of nearly every chaplain in the CGGC up until time of publishing in Summer 2024. Read all 16 pages here: History of CGGC Chaplains
If you want to hear directly from our chaplains, watch this Chaplains' Report that was put together for our Triennial Conference in July 2025, and hear about the work they do, and the lives they’re changing.
Lastly, you can directly support our chaplains through giving to our Chaplain Ministry & Family Fund. This fund supports their ministry efforts along with extra training, education, or family travel costs.
