Presenting: Social Security Seminar

31Oct

The CGGC Board of Pensions and Merrill Lynch are partnering together to bring some much-needed information and education regarding social security. The average age of our pastors is 59, which means that many of our pastors and leaders are actively considering and preparing for what their life will be like during retirement.

The seminar will take place on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7:00 PM EST. And the seminar will be presented by Patrick Clunan, the Senior Director over Advisor Consulting at Columbia Threadneedle Investments in Boston, MA.

This will be a digital only seminar, using the Webex platform (very similar to Zoom, and easy to use). Likewise, there is a call-in-feature if you simply want to listen to the presentation on your cell phone.

Patrick has served in this role for over a decade and comes highly recommended by the Pensions investment partners at Merrill Lynch.

The Seminary will go over the general rules of Social Security, along with common questions like ‘When should I apply? Should I take Social Security early or should I wait until full retirement age?’ The seminar will also cover Social Security planning for married couples. Which is another important note, your spouse is encouraged to watch the seminar with you.

Also, if you have questions, there will be plenty of time for Q&A both during and after the seminar, so come with your own questions, and expect answers!

For those wondering about the length of the seminar, Patrick’s prepared remarks will take about 25-30 minutes, but Q&A may push that to 45 minutes.

Merrill Lynch has provided the following statement to encourage you to consider!

“Social Security and Medicare are an integral part of your overall retirement plan. The Pensions Board of the CGGC, in conjunction with the retirement plan advisor Merrill Lynch, felt that it would be a good opportunity to go over the rules, benefits and ages at which these benefits start.

“Your Churches of God retirement plan is a big part of your retirement and so is social security! Please take the time to tune into this informative discussion on social security.”

We’ll provide more information, along with how to access the Seminar, soon. You can check back at this blog next week or reach out to us at , and we’ll respond soon with the Webex link, along with some simple instructions on how to use the platform.

Did we mention that this seminar is at NO COST?! We didn’t. But we have now!

Join us on Tuesday, November 19th, at 7 P.M. for this free seminar on Social Security planning.
